Konstantin Yelin – Director

Konstantin was educated at Eton College, Cambridge University and Cass Business School. He currently specialises in social media technologies and online startups.

He developed his first desktop application in 1995, and his first website in 1998. In business school, Konstantin researched the Web 2.0 phenomenon and wrote his dissertation on the implementation of online based productivity and collaboration tools in SMEs.

He is actively involved in several charities and sits on the development board of WellChild, the national charity for sick children.

Konstantin is a member of the Reform Club and was elected to the Club’s General Committee in 2010, becoming the youngest member in its history.

Captivated by the Middle East, Konstantin specialised in Arabic and Medieval Islamic History as part of his Oriental Studies degree at Cambridge, and spent years exploring and writing about Crusader castles, Isma’ili Assassins, and Arab Chronicles of the Crusades.

Anna Tyurkina – Senior Associate

Before doing her MSc in Advanced Software Engineering at King’s College London, Anna has worked as Architect and Lead Developer on several high profile projects for Russia’s Central Election Committee, Ministry of Education and oil giant Lukoil. In 2004, Anna graduated from the Moscow State University after a five year MSc program in Applied Mathematics. She worked as Quality Assurance Engineer at Abbyy Software House, focusing on manual and automated testing using OCR libraries, development of test scripts using VB6, VB. NET and MS Rational Studio, OCR applications comparative analysis and cross platform testing. More recently, Anna worked as Software Development Engineerat Croc Incorporated, where some of her roles and projects were:

Architect and Lead Developer for Federal Central Election Committee’s control system for electoral funds
Architect and Developer for X5 Retail Group’s subsystem for the visualization of transport movement in the system of transport logistics
Architect and Developer for Volkswagen Group’s XML file exchange automated system
Lead Developer for Lukoil’s system of workflow management for scientific and technical research
Developer for the Ministry of Education’s automated information system for the United States Exam

One of Anna’s key academic interests are online search engine algorithms and ranking techniques. Accordingly, for her MSc Dissertation she researched analysis and clustering of web search results and developed an application that automatically provides users with appropriate refinements to the output of their search queries according to topic. Anna is currently based in London with her husband Ayk, practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in her spare time.

Andrey Ten – Project Manager

Andrey obtained his MBA at Cambridge Judge Business School and is currently based in Cambridge. He has worked as Senior Expert and Acting Head of Department for Cooperation with International Financial Institutions at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy, and as Senior Associate Consultant for Bain & Company.

Andrey obtained his BA degree in Business Administration at the Westminster International University (Uzbekistan) in 2005, and completed a Professional Management Programme at the Uzbek-Japanese Human Development Centre.

He recently initiated a consulting project for one of the largest global investment funds, BlackRock PLC, assembled and led the team to successful implementation.

Andrey was awarded the prestigious British Council Chevening Scholarship and the Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy’s Merit Award. He is also a member of the Cambridge University Investment Club.

Ayk Stepanyan – Architect, Developer

Ayk is the Sogeti Prize winner for Best Overall Performance on the MSc in Advance Software Engineering at King’s College London. He holds a second Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from the Moscow State University.

Ayk has previously worked as Senior Software Development Engineer for EPAM Systems, Banking Information Systems and EGAR Technology. Some of his key projects and roles include:

Investigator for Sberbank’s online banking application
System Architect for ETickets’ online airline ticket booking engine
Investigator for Nexgen’s online booking engine platform
Developer for Air Emirates’ online booking engine
Architect and Developer for numerous front and back office applications for banks

Ayk has been certified in Programming with the Microsoft .NET Framework, .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications and ADO .NET Development.

For his MSc Dissertation, Ayk carried out extensive research of data compression algorithms and developed software for data compression using antidictionaries (DCA).

He is a keen football fan and a season ticket holder for the Arsenal Football Club. Together with his wife Anna, Ayk is currently developing DigFor.Info – a sophisticated social bookmarking service that allows users to organise their bookmarks in a Problem -> Possible Solutions -> Best Solution tree structure.

Dr John Tait – Senior Associate

John Tait obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 1983 for a thesis entitled “Automatic Summarising of English Text”. He subsequently followed a career in industry, mainly working on problems of large scale information retrieval and management, before taking up a post at the University of Sunderland in 1991, where he eventually became Professor of Intelligent Information Systems and Associate Dean of Computing And Technology, as well as leading the University of Sunderland Information Retrieval Group. In September 2007 he took up the post of Chief Scientific Officer of the Information Retrieval Facility, a not-for-profit institution dedicated to promoting research in large scale information retrieval. John is a past Programme Committee chair of the ACM SIGIR conference (2005), past General Chair of the European Conference on Information Retrieval (2004), an Associate Editor of ACM Transaction on Information Systems, joint Editor of Natural Language Engineering and has published over 100 refereed conference and journal papers, as well as three edited books and numerous newspaper and magazine articles. His current research focuses on problems of multi-lingual search and on patent retrieval. John is advisor for companies including max.recall, marinechandlery.com and cult.me. He has also undertaken project and proposal evaluations for European Union, governments of Finland, Netherlands, Ireland, UK, and many other organisations. His key skills include:

John was the leading figure in raising about €14M public funding (EU and Austrian) with the IRF, and previously about £6M of project funding whilst at Sunderland University with clients including Codeworks (at CEO level), EADS and British Steel, and public funding (EU and UK National). He is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional, Fellow of the British Computer Society and the Institution of Analysts and Programmers. He is a keen yachtsman with over 6,000 miles logged.
